Giving Back

The club regularly participates in community engagement throughout West Michigan, facilitates fundraising events, and contributes back to the sport. We have partnered with several organizations including: the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at Spectrum Health, the Humane Society of West Michigan, the Grand Rapids Parks & Recreation Department, the Michigan Youth Rugby Association, and the West Michigan Rugby Association. We’d love to partner with your organization! Please reach out at

We’ve been fortunate enough to play and reside in Grand Rapids and neighboring West Michigan communities. Our access to high-quality and service-oriented healthcare systems has truly touched our lives. With playing such a high-intensity sport, injuries are common. Additionally, we’ve each experienced illness in some form, whether that be on a personal level, or with one of our loved ones. That being said, it is important to us to give back in any way that we can. Some of our more recent endeavors include:

*Dedicated a match and raised money for the Patient Assistance Fund for the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at Spectrum Health.

*Hosting a Champion for a Cure “day of rugby” (4 matches) in partnership with Kirk Gates. The event (pictures below) raised funds and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

What’s rugby without a team dog? We’ve got plenty, which is why we love volunteering with the Humane Society of West Michigan! Below is a group of Ruggers at the Claws, Paws, and Corks annual fundraiser. We’ve also assisted with many other programs including the recent Bark in the Dark event.

So far so good…16 hours of park clean-up; and plenty more hours to come this summer. Thanks City of Grand Rapids and the Grand Rapids Parks & Recreation Department for allowing us to work in the community!
